Renewable Energy, Geothermal and Solar
Joel Edwards is a renewable energy expert and consultant to T/TI. Joel Edwards previously worked with the Great Basin Center for Geothermal Research in Reno, NV on the structural controls of geothermal systems in the Basin and Range. Joel Edwards has international experience having worked in Ankara, Turkey in 2012 as an Exploration Geologist for BM Holding. He conducted field reconnaissance studies and initial structural exploration of three exploratory license areas in western Turkey– Izmir and Aydin regions, and Buyuk Menderes graben. He discovered favorable structural settings for exploratory licenses and, at Gumuskoy production site, provided consultation on future exploratory structural targets for mapping and slim-hole drilling purposes.
In addition to his geothermal expertise, he recently developed and completed the Mexico Solar Power RTM in December 2013, where he organized a rigorous agenda that included meetings and site visits to federal, state and municipal public- and private-sector entities involved with solar power development in the U.S.
Mr. Edwards completed his MS Degree in Geology at the University of Nevada at Reno writing his thesis on the Structural Controls of the Neal Hot Springs Geothermal Field, Malheur County, OR. He received his BS Degree in Geology from the Brigham Young University. He recently received an award for the Best Presentation at the Geology 1, 2012 Geothermal Resources Council Fall Meeting, and took 2nd place at the DOE EERE National Geothermal Student Competition in 2012. Mr. Edwards is a member of American Association of Petroleum Geologists, Geological Society of America, and Geothermal Resource Council.
